Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated
This Acceptable Use Policy explains what you may not do with Hooklander. It applies to everything you create, upload or publish with the Service, to the traffic you send to your pages, and to how you use the Service itself. It is part of our Terms of Service.
The examples below are not a complete list. We may act on content or conduct that is not listed here if it causes similar harm. This policy is not legal advice; check the rules for your market and traffic source.
1. Illegal products and services
Do not promote, sell or facilitate anything that is illegal where it is offered or where your visitors are, such as illegal drugs, prescription medicines without a prescription, weapons where restricted, counterfeit goods, stolen data or financial scams.
2. Deceptive or unsubstantiated claims
Do not make claims you cannot support with appropriate evidence. This includes in particular:
- health and medical claims, such as cures, treatments, guaranteed outcomes or "doctors don't want you to know" style claims;
- weight-loss claims, such as specific amounts of weight lost in a set time;
- financial, income and investment claims, such as guaranteed earnings, "get rich quick" promises or risk-free returns;
- hidden or misleading pricing, such as free offers that lead to undisclosed subscriptions.
You are responsible for the claims on your pages, including copy suggested by AI.
3. Impersonation
Do not impersonate real news outlets, journalists, celebrities, public figures, businesses, brands or other people. This includes fake news-site layouts that use a real outlet's name, logo or design, and pages that suggest an endorsement, partnership or affiliation that does not exist.
Advertorial formats are allowed when they are clearly labeled as advertising and do not pretend to be a real publication.
4. Fake social proof
Do not publish fabricated or misleading testimonials, reviews, endorsements, ratings, reviewer names, "as seen on" logos, awards, certifications or customer counts. Testimonials must reflect real customers' genuine experiences, and you must disclose any material connection, such as payment or free products. Example testimonials included in our templates are placeholders and must be replaced or removed before you publish.
5. Phishing, malware and cloaking
Do not use the Service to:
- collect passwords, payment details or other credentials under false pretenses (phishing);
- distribute malware, unwanted software, or forced or deceptive downloads;
- cloak, which means showing ad reviewers, crawlers or networks different content from what real visitors see;
- redirect visitors to destinations that differ from what your page or ad led them to expect.
6. Adult content and gambling
Do not publish or promote adult content, or gambling, betting and similar services, where it is illegal, without the licenses required in the target market, or without the age and location targeting restrictions those markets and your traffic sources require. Many ad platforms and networks restrict these categories further; their rules apply in addition to this policy.
7. Spam
Do not drive traffic to your pages with spam, such as unsolicited bulk email, SMS or messaging, comment spam, or messages sent to lists that did not opt in. Follow the anti-spam laws that apply to you, such as CAN-SPAM, and the rules of your messaging and traffic providers.
8. Hate, harassment and violence
Do not publish content that promotes hatred, discrimination or violence against people based on protected characteristics, or that harasses, threatens or bullies anyone. Do not promote terrorism, violent extremism or self-harm.
9. Intellectual property
Do not use text, images, video, logos, trademarks or other material you do not have the right to use. Do not copy another business's pages or branding in a way that could confuse visitors. We respond to valid infringement notices sent to support@hooklander.com.
10. Personal and sensitive data
Only collect the data your pages need, and only with a legal basis and the notices and consent the law requires. Do not collect sensitive data, such as health, financial account, government ID or biometric information, without the consent and legal basis required. Do not collect personal data from children.
11. Fake urgency and scarcity
Do not use countdown timers, stock counters or similar elements that are false or misleading, such as timers that reset for every visitor, deadlines that do not exist, or "only 3 left" claims that are not true.
12. Abuse of the Service
Do not:
- scrape, copy or reverse engineer the Service or other customers' pages through the Service;
- resell, sublicense or share accounts, or create multiple accounts or trials to get around allowances;
- get around plan limits, security controls or usage restrictions;
- attack or overload our infrastructure, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or interfere with other customers;
- use the Service to host files or content unrelated to your landing pages.
13. Required disclosures
Your pages must include clear disclosures wherever the law, your affiliate networks or your traffic sources require them. Depending on your market and traffic, this can include:
- an affiliate or material connection disclosure near the claims or links it relates to;
- "Advertisement", "Sponsored" or "Paid content" labels on advertorials and presell pages;
- disclaimers on testimonials, results and health or financial content;
- a privacy notice and any required consent for tracking and lead forms.
14. Enforcement
We may review pages that are reported to us or that our systems flag. If we find a breach of this policy, we may, depending on the severity:
- ask you to change or remove the content;
- unpublish or remove a page;
- restrict features or suspend your workspace or account;
- terminate your account.
Where practical, we will contact you first and give you a reasonable chance to fix the problem. In serious cases, such as phishing, malware, clearly illegal content or risk of harm to visitors, we may act immediately and without prior notice. We may also report illegal activity to the relevant authorities.
15. Appeals
If you believe we made a mistake, reply to our notice or contact support@hooklander.com with the page or account affected and any information that helps us review the decision. A member of our team will review it and tell you the outcome.
16. Reporting abuse
If you see a page published with Hooklander that you believe breaks this policy, please report it here or email support@hooklander.com. Include the page address and a short description of the problem. We review the reports we receive, although we may not be able to share the outcome with you.
