ClickBank & Digistore24 sales

Bring ClickBank and Digistore24 sales, refunds and chargebacks into tracking, matched to the ad click, so they reach your ad platforms and show in Activity.

If you promote ClickBank or Digistore24 offers, you can bring their sales into tracking without setting up a network postback yourself. Each sale is matched to the click that brought the buyer, sent on to your ad platforms and listed in Activity.

Set both up on the Checkout sales card on the Tracking & postbacks page. Everyone in your workspace can see the card and copy its addresses, but only owners and admins can add or change anything.

Both platforms need the click id on your link. Put the link token {np_click_id} where each platform asks for it, as shown below. We fill it in when a visitor clicks a button or link on your live page.

ClickBank

ClickBank reports each sale to one web address for your account, using Instant Notification (INS). You can add one ClickBank account per workspace.

  1. On the Checkout sales card, choose Add ClickBank account.
  2. Enter your INS secret key: up to 16 letters and numbers, the same one you’ll set in ClickBank. You can add your Account nickname too. We keep the key encrypted and never show it again, only its last 4 characters.
  3. Copy the Webhook URL the card now shows.
  4. In ClickBank, open your nickname, then Vendor Settings, My Site and Advanced Tools. Find Instant Notification (INS), request access if ClickBank asks you to, and choose Edit. Pick version 8, paste the webhook URL and set the same secret key. If you can’t find these menus, search ClickBank’s help for Instant Notification.
  5. Choose Test URL in ClickBank. It should report success. If it doesn’t, check that the secret key is the same in both places and that the account isn’t paused.
  6. On your hoplink, add tid={np_click_id} so each sale carries the click id. You can use extclid={np_click_id} instead, added with &. Our click ids are lowercase letters and numbers, which ClickBank allows in tid.

What comes through

  • Sales and rebills each record as an approved sale. Rebills count as sales of their own.
  • Refunds and chargebacks reverse a sale. The sale turns Rejected and drops out of your revenue.
  • Other ClickBank notifications, such as a subscription being canceled, are ignored and don’t appear in Activity.
  • Amounts are what ClickBank says you received, in US dollars.
  • ClickBank doesn’t tell affiliates who the buyer is, so there’s no buyer’s email. A sale can only be matched to its click through the click id on your link.

We match a refund to its sale by ClickBank’s receipt number. For a subscription, a refund reverses the original sale, not one particular rebill. ClickBank doesn’t document what a refund carries, so if one ever arrives that we can’t match, it shows in Activity as its own Rejected entry and the sale stays as it was.

ClickBank’s test sales are ignored unless Test mode is on for the account. While it’s on they count as real sales, so turn it off when you go live. Pause stops recording until you choose Resume. Delete removes the account, and sales already recorded stay in your results.

Digistore24

Digistore24 reports through your workspace’s postback address, so there’s no account to add. You copy one address into Digistore24.

  1. On the Checkout sales card, under Digistore24, choose Copy postback URL. It already has your workspace key in it.
  2. In Digistore24, open Sales & partners, then Integrations, and choose Add New Integration for the product you promote. You need an approved partnership with the vendor first. Paste the address as the postback URL, and choose which order events send it: include payments, refunds and chargebacks.
  3. On your Digistore24 promolink, add ?cid={np_click_id} so each sale carries the click id.

The address on the card looks like this, with your own key in place of YOUR-KEY:

https://hooklander.com/api/postback/YOUR-KEY?click_id={cid}&amount={amount_brutto}&txid={transaction_id}&currency={currency}&status={transaction_type}

Copy it from the card rather than typing it. Digistore24 swaps each value in braces for the real one when it calls the address:

ValueWhat Digistore24 fills in
{cid}The click id from your promolink
{amount_brutto}The gross amount of the sale, not your commission
{transaction_id}Digistore24’s id for this transaction
{currency}The currency of the amount
{transaction_type}Payment, refund or chargeback

A payment records an approved sale. A refund or chargeback marks a sale Rejected.

We can’t promise that a refund reverses its sale. We match them by the transaction id, so it works only if Digistore24 sends the same {transaction_id} on the refund as on the payment. Digistore24 doesn’t say whether it does, so check the first refund you get in Activity. If the ids match, the sale changes to Rejected. If they don’t, the refund shows as its own Rejected entry and the sale stays counted. Either way, the sale itself is attributed through {cid}.

Keep the address private: anyone who has it can report sales to your workspace.

Where sales show up

Sales from both platforms go through the same steps as network postbacks. Each one is recorded against the page and variation of its click, sent to every ad connection that sends sales, and listed in Activity: the click, then the sale, then what we sent to each connection. Choose a click id on any entry to follow one buyer from start to finish. Sending conversions to ad platforms explains the connections and how to read Activity.

A sale that isn’t matched to a click has an Unattributed note in Activity. If you see that, check that the click id is on your link (tid for ClickBank, cid for Digistore24) and that people are clicking through your live page.

The ClickBank webhook URL and the Digistore24 postback URL both contain your workspace’s postback key. If you rotate the key, copy the new addresses from the card into ClickBank and Digistore24, because the old ones stop working.
