Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common problems: pages not loading, domains not verifying, failed AI generations and missing-information placeholders.

Start with the section that matches what you’re seeing. If none of it helps, email support@hooklander.com with the page name, the URL and any reference code from the error message.

My page isn’t loading

  • Is it published? Drafts are private. The page overview shows whether the page is live and lists its live URLs.
  • Check the address. Copy the live URL from the page overview rather than typing it; the slug (the part after the domain) must match exactly.
  • Did the trial or subscription end? After a free trial ends, pages keep serving for 3 days; after a subscription ends, for 7 days. They are then unpublished. If a payment failed, pages stay live for 14 days while Stripe retries. Fix billing and publish again.
  • Using your own domain? The domain must show as Active before pages load on it. See the next section.
  • Seeing an old version? Live pages only change when you publish. If you edited after publishing, the page overview shows unpublished changes — publish again to update the live page.

My domain isn’t verifying

Most problems are one of these:

  1. The record isn’t a CNAME, or it points at the wrong target (it should be cname.hooksites.com).
  2. In Cloudflare, the record is proxied (orange cloud). Switch it to DNS only (gray cloud).
  3. Another record (A, AAAA or a second CNAME) exists on the same name. Delete it.
  4. DNS hasn’t propagated yet. Changes usually show up within minutes but can take up to 48 hours, depending on your provider and the record’s TTL.

The full checklist is in Connecting a custom domain.

An AI generation failed

Nothing is lost and nothing is charged: allowances are used only when a generation succeeds, and a failed or interrupted job never changes your draft. Try again in a minute. If it keeps failing, the AI provider may be having a temporary problem — email us with the reference code and we’ll check.

If you see a message that a limit has been reached, that’s your monthly allowance rather than an error. See Plans, limits & billing.

The page shows [ADD: …] placeholders

That’s deliberate. The AI won’t invent prices, discounts, statistics, testimonials, ratings or endorsements. When the copy needs a fact you haven’t supplied, it writes a visible placeholder and lists it under To finish in the editor. Either:

  • type the real fact directly into the page, or
  • add it to the offer details and regenerate the affected section.

Publishing waits until no placeholder would show to visitors, so none slip through.

  • Check the pass-through setting is on for the page, and that the destination doesn’t already define the same parameter (existing values are never overwritten).
  • Check token spelling: {np_click_id}, not {click_id}. Unknown tokens become empty.
  • Test on the live page, not in the editor or a private preview — tokens are filled in when a visitor clicks on a published page.

See Link tokens & pass-through parameters.

Leads aren’t reaching my webhook

Use the Test button on the integration to send a sample lead, then check your endpoint’s logs. Make sure the integration is enabled and, if you limited it to specific pages, that this page is included. Leads are always stored in the app first, so you can export them as CSV while you fix the connection. See Lead forms, consent & webhooks.
